Alternative Light provides a variety of different types of blinds, whatever your requirements. When you are ready to order your products they are manufactured to a high quality and then installed by our own fitters.

Roller blinds

Many of our suppliers manufacture roller blinds using a strong aluminium grooved roller tube as standard and are built for commercial and domestic use. This way you know you are getting a quality roller blind that can last. The groove aluminium tube is more expensive than budget blinds, which may have the fabric taped to the roller, but over time this can oxide and the fabric fall off. We crease and trap the fabric in to the groove ensuring a positive and non-moving fit.

Vertical Blinds

Vertical blinds are the most popular type of blind, and have the ability to control light and privacy. They are an extremely versatile shading product that is ideal for a variety of windows and doors, as well as conservatories of all shapes and sizes. They are available in both 89mm and 127mm. Louvers can be supplied either with chain and weight operation or more appealing to the eye with weights sewn in.

Venetian Blinds

We supply real natural wood Venetian blinds that come in 25mm, 35mm and 50mm width slats as well as aluminium wood effect Venetian blinds, where real wood is not suitable. Aluminium slatted Venetians come in 16mm, 25mm, 35mm and 50mm width slats and in a combination of over 100 slat colours to co-ordinate with your colour schemes. Our Venetian blinds are built to the same quality as all our blinds, and so are suitable for commercial and domestic use.

Pleated Blinds

Our pleated blinds are ideally suited to fit a sloping or horizontal conservatory roof, but can also be effective in the vertical hanging position of an ordinary window. As they are very versatile they can be used on any window shape and size and they can be custom made to fit into any space. The fabrics used for these window treatments are very resistant to the damaging effects of the sun and are available in transparent, semi-opaque or opaque, according to your preference and needs.

Roman Blinds

Efficient and aesthetically appealing our Roman Blinds are manufactured using a combination of the latest technology and traditional skills.

Every blind being hand finished with an integral fabric pelmet that covers the cord exit hole from the cord lock mechanism. All blinds are hand-stitched to produce a very high quality finish and to ensure there is no visible stitching on the face of the blind, a design feature that highlights the superior appearance of the finished product. The blind reverse is always lined and the pockets are formed within the lining, containing the sewn-in rods, guaranteeing continuity of pattern.

Available in an assortment of fabrics taken from suppliers throughout Europe and contain a wide variety of semi-plain and patterned fabrics, including a large natural collection to suit current trends in the market. All blinds are manufactured with an Ecru lining as standard, although coloured, blackout and flame-retardant linings are also available.

Intu Systems

Ideal for conservatories glazed doors and tilt and turn windows Intu blinds fit neatly into the window bead so you can operate your window or door handles with ease. Light gaps are minimised, giving exceptional control of solar heat and light.

An intelligent tension system prevents the blind from rattling against the glass when the door or window is opened or closed and allows up to 15 degrees of tilt.

The Intu venetian blind has no need for cords or wands, this is due to a discrete method of a tilting the slats. A tilter is built inside the head rail and can be adjusted by a slide tilt control on the fascia. Adjust the tensioned blind by rising and lowering the bottom rail, this simple operation also applies to the pleated range. These neat and simple control options eliminate unnecessary free-hanging cord loops, for improved safety.

Perfect Fit

One of the age-old curses of installing window blinds to UPVC windows has been the potential damage when fitting with screws.
